The 8th Career Azerbaijan 2014 exhibition has taken place from the 10 to 12 of October at the Baku Expo Centre. The Career exhibition is the only exhibition on this subject in the country which has the official support of the Ministry of Education of the Republic of Azerbaijan. Career 2014 also has the support of the Azerbaijan Fund for the Promotion of Export and Investment (AZPROMO) and the National Confederation of Entrepreneur Organisations (Employers) of the Republic of Azerbaijan. The Career exhibition took place alongside the 8th Azebaijan International Education 2014 exhibition.
The opening ceremony featured addresses from Deputy Minister of Education of the Republic of Azerbiajan Dzeihun Bairamov and Director of Iteca Caspian LLC Farid Mamedov. Deputy Minister Bairamov noted that one of the most important foundations for the development of society is complete and high quality education for the next generation. The state, private business and educational institutions must unite their efforts for the development of human capital and these exhibitions are a good platform for finding solutions for these issues.
Exhibitors with original and impressive displays were awarded special certificates for the following categories:
- The Best stand performance - State Oil Company of Azerbaijan Republic (SOCAR)
- The Best corporate style - Azercell Telecom
- The Best Debut - BEGOC/ BAKU 2015
- The Most Active work with visitors - AZERSU OJSC
A substantial business programme was a significant feature of the exhibition. The presentation of the "Sabakh" project, which is aimed at the improvement and development of teaching methods and changes to the academic and educational environment in Azerbaijan took place on the 10th of October with the support of the Ministry of Education of the Republic of Azerbaijan. Project leader Elcin Atakishiev spoke to the audience of the purpose of the project, which aims to create a new educational environment in the system of higher education to prepare employees that meet current requirements. Head of HR departments in major companies were invited to the event and offered cooperation and potential involvement in the educational process.
A presentation on the "Gələcəyini Qur!" (Build your future) project aimed at helping young people was organised as part of the business programme on the 11th of October. The idea of this project is to give assistance to children from poor families with preparation for higher education. A group of activists from Iteca Caspian and R.I.S.K. were the sponsors of this project. The partners were the Azerbaijan Diplomatic Academy (ADA) and the KAINAT educational centre, where future applicants receive free preparation classes for universities. LEGASY was the initiator of the project. The "Gələcəyini Qur!" project begun in April, with talented young people selected in the Garadagsky and Binagadinsky districs. Nearly five hundred year ten students from sixty schools went through serious competition for places. As a result, 44 students that wanted to improve their knowledge received the opportunity to have an academic education. These young men and women met their teachers annd sponsors at the exhibition, as well as meeting the heads of HR departments in different companies.
This year, the number of visits to the Career 2014 exhibition reached 7810. Visitors included a large number of young people that had recently graduated from an educational institution. The success of Career 2014 is also shown by the testimonials of the exhibitors. Head of the Recruitment Department at Bakcell Zyviar Gasym-Zade said that "Bakcell gathered a large number of CVs from potential candidates, as well as carrying out preliminary personal interviews with appropriate applicants. The company intends to continue to work with a number of candidates by holding interviews in office conditions." Representatives of "Azərsu" said that they offered 20 vacancies at the exhibition and 300 CVs had been collected by the second day of the exhibition. Halliburton Human Resources Manager Agshin Gozelov noted that his company offered around 20 vacancies in the oil and gas sector at Career 2014, which attracted a lot of interest from visitors. Many exhibitors shared their plans to exhibit at Career 2014 which will take place from 9-11 October 2015.
The exhibition was organised by Iteca Caspian and Caspian Event Organisers (CEO). The official safety partner of all exhibitions organised by Iteca Caspian in 2014 is SafeLife, the official hotels are JW Marriott Absheron Baku Hotel and Qafqaz Point Hotel and the Official Tour operator is Greenwich Travel Club.
